It goes without saying that coming out of college this year there will be a lot of students struggling to find jobs. Anything a student can do to set them apart could be instrumental in the possibility of getting a job offer. Developing a blog is a great way of establishing an online presence for yourself and can really help you build your personal brand. I myself have seen the benefits of creating a blog in my career search. I have had several interviews where interviewers were very interested in my experience creating and managing my blog, Wired To Hunt, and in some cases recruiters even checked it out and commented on it. Showcasing a little bit of who you are online can go a long way in setting you apart from other candidates for a job.

Not only can blogging help you find it a job, but it can also be a job! Many succesful blog authors have been able to make great money selling advertisements on their sites. Small time bloggers can even make money by placing ads through Google’s AdSense on their sites. The key is develop a consistent and creative product that draws a lot of reader traffic. If you have a lot of visitors to your site and have a unique market, your site can be a very valuable advertising option for marketers.
