Spartan Toughness

The Michigan State Spartans have once again reached the Final Four and it couldn’t have came at a better time. The economic woes of Michigan have effected businesses, students and families all across our country. But this weekend, we can forget about that and just enjoy MSU bringing some hometown love to the D. The Spartans are heading to Detroit to bring home a championship and I think we can all learn a lot from this great team. A lot of the lessons you can take from MSU’s season can be applied to a job search, so lets take a look at some of those.

1. Persistence – Coach Izzo and his crew have had a roller coaster ride over the course of the season. From the spanking by UNC early in the year, to winning the outright Big Ten Championship this team has seen it all. No matter what the challenge, the Spartans kept pushing and kept improving.

2. Focus – Over the course of the season the team has stayed completely focused on it’s goals of winning championships. Now we are Big Ten Champs and Midwest Regional Champions of the NCAA Tournament.

3. Toughness – The Michigan State Spartans are tough. Tougher than anyone else out there and thats why we’re in the Final Four. No matter what adversity they face, they work harder and grind it out. One of Izzo’s favorite acronyms is PPTPW.

Players Play Tough Players Win

This is the same for any challenge you might face. Be tough and you’ll usually come out on top. Getting a job these days is no easy task, but if you can be persistent, focused and tough you will eventually be succesful.

Don’t give up. Be Tough. Get a job.

That’s what Coach Izzo would say.
